The belief collar was the result of having to make my project in textiles… well I guess I didn’t really make it in textiles, but hey.

So basically, the collar has to be self induced; you clamp off your throat, which starves your brain from oxygen. There is an ECG built into the machine, when your pulse reaches zero, or at least reaches a low reading, then the collar releases.

The idea came about after a classification of belief in terms of experience; the people whom hold the strongest beliefs are the people whom have had ‘experiences’.

Because of this I wanted to create and object that allows for these ‘experiences’ to take place. It also allows for these experiences to be taken control of by yourself on your own, and can build your own ideas of saviour, magic, heaven etc, and can control the influences that may or may not influence this experience.

Though I’m not sure I’d want to put my life in the hands of an ardhuino…
